Use simple visual metaphors to make starvation visible and create urgency.
Case study 01 · Integrated emergency response campaign
A holistic, integrated campaign that gave diverse audiences a clear way to understand the crisis and help.

The challenge
Record manatee mortality was scientifically complex, emotionally difficult, and unfolding in real time. The campaign needed to create urgency without leaving people in despair, which rarely sustains repeat giving. We paired concern with hope and a clear action so donors could see that their support mattered now and over the long term.
My role
I set campaign strategy and led implementation across my direct report, fundraising colleagues, creative agencies, and conservation partners. I directed audience targeting, content, creative, social media, and media outreach while connecting the fundraising narrative to expert voices.
Priority audiences

Dear Michelle,
We're getting closer to the goal of being able to purchase 400,000 pounds of lettuce for manatees in the Indian River Lagoon. We still have some cold weather ahead this winter and need help with the ongoing grocery bill. Can you help us?
Manatee-sized appreciation,
Andrew Walker
